Ramco Hard Worker Tile Fix Slurry (HW207) is a specialized, polymer-modified cementitious additive designed for the "wet-on-wet" method of tile installation. It is specifically engineered to be mixed with water to create a high-bonding slurry that is applied to the back of tiles before they are laid on a fresh cement-sand screed.
This product is the modern, engineered upgrade to the traditional "cement-water" slurry, providing a much stronger and more durable bond between the tile and the floor.
Key Features & Benefits
- Enhanced Bond Strength: While traditional cement slurries can be brittle, HW207 is fortified with specialized polymers that create a powerful mechanical and chemical bond, significantly reducing the risk of tiles "popping up" or de-bonding.
- Eliminates Hollow Sounds: The superior flow and wetting properties of the slurry ensure 100% coverage on the back of the tile, eliminating air pockets that cause the annoying "hollow sound" when walked upon.
- Shrinkage Compensation: HW207 is formulated to resist shrinkage as it cures, ensuring the bond remains intact and stable over the long term.
- Excellent Workability: The slurry maintains a consistent, lump-free texture that is easy for masons to spread evenly, speeding up the installation process.
- Compatibility: It is perfectly suited for use with ceramic tiles, vitrified tiles, and natural stones like marble and granite.
Primary Applications
- Floor Tiling (Wet-on-Wet): The primary use is for installing large-format vitrified tiles and ceramic tiles on a freshly laid (green) cement-sand mortar bed.
- Natural Stone Installation: Ideal for laying marble, granite, or Kota stone on floors.
- Internal and External Flooring: Suitable for residential living rooms, bedrooms, and commercial corridors, as well as shaded outdoor areas.
How to Apply HW207 (Step-by-Step)
- Surface Preparation: Prepare the cement-sand mortar (screed) on the floor as per the required slope and level.
- Mixing: Add the HW207 powder into a bucket of clean water. Use a slow-speed stirrer to mix until a smooth, pourable, creamy consistency is achieved. Let it stand for 5 minutes, then remix.
- Application: * Pour the slurry onto the fresh mortar bed or apply it to the back of the tile (back-buttering).
- Spread the slurry evenly using a flat trowel or a 3mm notched trowel.
- Fixing: Place the tile onto the slurry-coated bed while it is still wet. Tap the tile gently with a rubber mallet to ensure full contact and level alignment.
- Cleaning: Clean any excess slurry from the tile surface and joints with a wet sponge before it hardens.
Why Choose HW207 Over Ordinary Cement?
Ordinary cement-water slurry often loses its moisture too quickly to the dry tile or the mortar bed, leading to a weak "dry" bond. Ramco Hard Worker HW207 contains moisture-retention agents and polymers that ensure the bond stays flexible and strong, accommodating the minor thermal expansions of the floor without cracking.
