Roff Tile Bonder (T22) is a highly specialized, premium polymer additive in powder form developed by Pidilite Industries. Unlike ready-to-use bag adhesives, Roff Tile Bonder is an on-site mix modifier formulated to be blended directly with ordinary Portland cement.

When contractors perform traditional "cement machan" (thick mortar leveling bed) or traditional wet slurry tile installations, ordinary cement can shrink, crack, or lack adequate grip for modern tiles. Adding Roff Tile Bonder transforms ordinary cement into a high-performance, polymer-modified bonding paste, significantly boosting bond strength, water resistance, and workability while keeping project costs highly economical.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Enhanced Bond Strength: Infuses ordinary cement with specialized polymers, producing a robust bond that securely locks tiles to the substrate over time.
  • Improves Cement Workability: Creates a much smoother, creamier cement slurry paste that is vastly easier for masons to trowel, comb, and adjust.
  • Combats Shrinkage & Hollow Cavities: Reduces the water-cement ratio requirement and limits drying shrinkage, preventing the hollow spaces that cause tiles to crack under pressure.
  • Excellent Water Resistance: Significantly reduces the porosity of the cement mix, making it ideal for wet utility environments.
  • Highly Cost-Effective: Allows builders to achieve high polymer-modified adhesive performance on large-scale horizontal floors by augmenting on-site sand-cement raw materials rather than buying full bags of pre-mixed adhesive for deep screeds.

Primary Applications

  • Materials to Fix: Designed primarily for fixing all varieties of standard ceramic tiles, semi-vitrified tiles, and standard vitrified floor tiles.
  • Application Styles: Ideal for enhancing cement slurries laid over conventional cement machan, rough leveling beds, and screed foundations.
  • Areas of Use: Highly recommended for internal horizontal floors, vertical masonry walls, and domestic wet areas like residential bathrooms, kitchens, and utilities.

The Variants of Roff Tile Bonder

To accommodate varying project scales—from minor household repairs to large commercial developments—Pidilite distributes Roff Tile Bonder T22 in specialized packaging sizes tailored for accurate on-site batch portioning:

1. Roff Tile Bonder T22 – 300g Sachet Pouches

  • The Standard Unit: A fine white powder packaged in a compact, moisture-sealed 300g sachet bag.
  • Application Focus: This size is precisely measured to match one standard 50 kg bag of ordinary cement. Contractors can easily dump exactly one 300g pouch into a single cement bag mix on-site without needing weighing scales, eliminating batch errors.

2. Roff Tile Bonder T22 – Large Pack Formats

  • Available in multi-pouch boxes or bulk contractor sizes for commercial real estate developments, public infrastructure projects, and mass flooring installations where hundreds of cement bags are modified daily.

How to Mix & Apply Roff Tile Bonder T22

  1. Dry Blending: Thoroughly dry-mix one 300g sachet of Roff Tile Bonder T22 with one 50 kg bag of ordinary cement before adding water. Ensure the powder is distributed completely uniformly throughout the cement.
  2. Wet Mixing: Slowly add clean water to the dry polymer-cement blend. Stir thoroughly with a mechanical mixer or shovel until you achieve a smooth, creamy, lump-free paste.
  3. Application: Spread the modified cement paste evenly over the prepared leveling bed or wall surface using a trowel.
  4. Tile Fixing: Press the tiles firmly into the wet paste bed, twisting slightly to ensure uniform back-bedding contact. Tap gently with a rubber mallet to level. Maintain joint gaps using tile spacers, and allow 24 hours for full setting before opening up to traffic or grouting.
