Roff Vitrofix Adhesive (VFA) is a high-performance, highly polymer-modified, cement-based thin-set tile adhesive manufactured by Pidilite Industries. Engineered specifically to handle the challenges of modern tiling, it is the professional choice for installing low-porosity, dense materials like vitrified tiles, porcelain tiles, and premium natural stones.

Traditional sand-cement mortars fail to bond with modern vitrified tiles because these tiles do not absorb water. Roff Vitrofix solves this by creating a powerful chemical and mechanical bond that anchors the tile securely, preventing hollow sounds, debonding, or cracking. It complies fully with the Indian regulatory standards of IS 15477:2019 Type 2 'T' and global ISO 13007 C2T / C2TE classifications.

Key Features & Benefits

  • High Polymer Modification: Fortified with advanced polymers that allow it to bond seamlessly with non-porous surfaces and absorb structural shifts or thermal expansion without cracking.
  • Sag-Resistant Non-Slip Formula ('T'): Engineered with excellent initial grab and anti-slip properties, ensuring that large-format tiles and heavy stones remain perfectly stable when fixed onto vertical interior walls without sliding down.
  • Extended Open & Adjustability Time ('E'): Provides an open time of minimum 30 minutes, giving masons ample time to align, level, and adjust tiles accurately for an immaculate layout.
  • Water & Shock Resistant: Forms a highly dense, water-impermeable adhesive layer, making it ideal for interior wet areas, high-humidity applications, and light commercial spaces.
  • Sustains Heat Ageing: Highly stable under thermal changes, making it suitable for locations subject to high heat, such as jacuzzis, saunas, and spa decks.
  • Low VOC Formula: Environmentally friendly and certified with low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), ensuring excellent indoor air quality and safety for residential spaces.

Primary Applications

  • Materials to Fix: All sizes of vitrified tiles, porcelain tiles, ceramic slabs, glass mosaics, and natural stones (like marble and granite).
  • Substrates: Cement-based screeds, sand-cement plaster/renders, smooth concrete beds, and existing tiled surfaces (for interior Tile-on-Tile applications).
  • Areas of Use: Ideal for internal floors and walls across residential apartments and commercial setups. It is also highly suitable for external floor installations. (Note: For external wall applications, mixing with a structural polymer modifier like Roff Bond Repair is required).

The Variants of Roff Vitrofix Adhesive

To address distinct material profiles, tile backgrounds, and structural weights, the Roff Vitrofix range is split into two major performance Tiers, each offering Grey and White cement bases:

Tier 1: Standard Vitrofix (VFA) — For Regular to Large Interior Layouts

This is the standard Type 2 'T' adhesive tailored for everyday premium residential and light commercial tiling.

  • Roff Vitrofix T03 Grey: Formulated with a premium grey cement base. It is the default choice for standard vitrified flooring, dark-colored porcelain, and regular natural stones (like granite) on interior walls and floors.
  • Roff Vitrofix T04 White: Formulated with a high-grade white cement base. It is specialized for glass mosaic tiles, translucent natural stones, and light-colored marbles. The pristine white backing prevents dark shadows or color-bleeding from showing through the face of aesthetic tiles.

Tier 2: Vitrofix Ultra — For Jumbo Slabs and Demanding Formats

An upgraded, heavily polymer-modified variant designed for heavier, oversized tiles and demanding structural spaces.

  • Roff T05 Vitrofix Ultra Grey: Offers enhanced tensile and shear strength for extra-large format vitrified floor tiles and heavy, dark natural stone slabs.
  • Roff T06 Vitrofix Ultra White: The absolute premium white system. Engineered for jumbo-sized translucent marble slabs, designer glass backsplashes, swimming pool decks, facades, and premium mosaic details.

Application Guidelines

  1. Surface Prep: Ensure the base substrate is fully level, cured, hard, dry, and clean. Lightly dampen dry or dusty surfaces before applying the mix.
  2. Mixing: Slowly add the Vitrofix powder into clean water. Use a slow-speed mechanical mixer to stir until you achieve a smooth, lump-free paste. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes, then remix briefly.
  3. Troweling: Spread the adhesive onto the wall or floor using an appropriate notched trowel at a uniform thickness. Only comb an area that can be tiled within 15 minutes to avoid premature drying.
  4. Tile Placement: Press the tiles firmly into the ribbed adhesive bed with a slight twisting motion. Gently tap with a rubber mallet to assure 100% bedding coverage and eliminate hollow spaces. Leave proper joints using tile spacers.
