Roff Extrofix Adhesive (EFA) is a premium, high-performance, polymer-modified thin-set cementitious tile adhesive engineered by Pidilite Industries. Specifically designed to withstand challenging external and internal conditions, Roff Extrofix provides the durability and flexibility necessary to handle weather variations, thermal shock, and high-impact structural vibrations.
Unlike regular indoor adhesives, Roff Extrofix is engineered to counter thermal expansion and contraction, preventing expensive large-format vitrified tiles, glass mosaics, and natural stones from cracking or popping out when exposed to intense heat, heavy rain, or freezing conditions. It complies strictly with the demanding standards of IS 15477:2019 Type 3 'T' (Indian Standard) and global EN 12004 / ISO 13007 Class C2TE classifications.
Key Features & Benefits
- Advanced Weather & Heat Ageing Resistance: Formulated to sustain structural integrity in high-temperature environments, making it ideal for external building facades, terraces, saunas, spas, and swimming pools.
- High-Grab Sag Resistance ('T'): Features an exceptional anti-slip formula that prevents heavy, large-format tiles and stones from sliding or sagging when installed on vertical exterior walls.
- Extended Open & Adjustability Time ('E'): Offers a generous open time of minimum 30 to 40 minutes, giving masons adequate time to place, level, and adjust tiles perfectly even under dry outdoor conditions.
- Shock & Vibration Absorption: Highly polymer-modified matrix acts as a cushion, allowing the adhesive bed to accommodate minor structural movements, dynamic shocks, and heavy commercial foot traffic.
- Waterproof & Submerged Stability: Forms a highly dense, low-permeability crystalline structure that remains strong and stable under continuous water immersion.
- Low VOC Content: Environmentally safe and certified with exceptionally low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC), promoting cleaner air and healthier living.
Primary Applications
- Materials to Fix: All types of ceramic tiles, vitrified tiles, porcelain slabs, glass mosaic tiles, large-format tiles, and heavy natural stones (like marble and granite).
- Compatible Substrates: Cement-based screeds, concrete slabs, sand-cement plasters/renders, existing cured tile-on-tile layouts, brick masonry, and drywall sheets (such as cement or bison boards).
- Areas of Use: External wall cladding, open balconies, rooftops and terraces, swimming pools, fountains, jacuzzis, commercial high-traffic spaces, and internal wet/dry zones.
The Variants of Roff Extrofix Adhesive
The Roff Extrofix family is divided into two distinct product performance lines—the core Extrofix (EFA) series and the heavy-duty Extrofix Ultra series. Each tier features specific color options to match your material's aesthetic properties:
1. Core Roff Extrofix (EFA) Series — For General External and Wet Areas
Certified under Type 3 'T' (IS 15477) and C2TE (ISO 13007). This series is the flagship solution for balconies, swimming pools, and medium-height external installations.
- Roff T05 Extrofix Grey: The default choice formulated with premium grey cement. It is ideal for general external floor tiling, dark-colored vitrified slabs, and regular natural stones like granite.
- Roff T06 Extrofix White: Formulated with a high-grade white cement base. It is highly recommended for translucent natural stones, light-colored marbles, and glass mosaic tiles, ensuring that the adhesive layer does not bleed or cast an unappealing dark shadow through the stone.
- (Note: Older legacy packaging lines or specific distributor networks may code these core variants as T07 Grey and T08 White).
2. Roff Extrofix Ultra Series — For High-Rise Cladding and Highly Deformable Areas
An advanced, highly flexible, premium variant that achieves Type 4 'T' S1 (IS 15477) and C2TES1 (ISO 13007) ratings. The "S1" designation signifies that the adhesive is highly deformable, meaning it can bend and flex under structural load or immense wind pressure without snapping.
- Roff T20 Extrofix Ultra Grey: Engineered for installing jumbo-sized slabs and heavy tiles on high-rise building facades, industrial spaces, or areas subject to continuous heavy machinery vibrations.
- Roff T21 Extrofix Ultra White: The premium white variant of the high-flexibility Ultra line. Designed for fixing massive premium white marbles, light quartzites, and artistic mosaic layouts on extreme heights and challenging exterior structural conditions.

Application Instructions
- Surface Preparation: The base concrete or plaster substrate must be clean, structurally sound, level, and free of laitance, oil, or loose debris. Slightly dampen dry or dusty surfaces before application, clearing off any standing water pools.
- Mixing: Slowly add the Extrofix powder to the measured clean water. Use a slow-speed mechanical stirrer to blend for 3 to 5 minutes until a creamy, lump-free paste is formed. Let the mix rest for 2–3 minutes, then remix briefly before applying.
- Troweling: Comb the adhesive evenly onto the substrate using an appropriately sized notched trowel. Avoid spreading more than what can be tiled within 15–20 minutes to prevent skinning.
- Tile Fixing: Press the tile or stone firmly into the combed adhesive bed with a slight twisting movement. Tap gently with a rubber mallet to achieve 100% back-bedding coverage and completely eliminate hollow air gaps. Leave uniform joints utilizing tile spacers.
- Grouting: Allow the installation to cure for at least 24 hours before opening to light foot traffic or initiating joint grouting.
