Roff Non-Skid Adhesive (NSA) is a high-performance, polymer-modified, cementitious thin-set tile adhesive designed by Pidilite Industries. Specifically formulated with excellent "grab" and non-slip characteristics, it provides a hassle-free solution for installing modern tiles on both vertical and horizontal indoor surfaces.

Roff NSA is the ideal choice for homeowners and contractors looking to perform "Tile-on-Tile" renovations. It allows new tiles to be laid over an existing tiled floor safely without the mess, noise, or labor costs of breaking up the old floor. It complies fully with the performance standards of IS 15477:2019 Type 1 'T' and IS 15477:2004 Type 2.

Key Features & Benefits

  • High-Grab Sag Resistance: Features a specialized sag-resistant formula (designated by the 'T' for slip-resistance) that keeps tiles firmly in place on vertical walls without sliding down during application.
  • Perfect for Tile-on-Tile Renovations: Forms a secure, reliable chemical bond over existing old tiles and smooth flooring surfaces for interior updates.
  • Water-Resistant: Excellent structural stability when exposed to moisture, making it highly recommended for residential internal wet zones like bathroom walls and kitchens.
  • Zero Hollow Sounds: Ensures complete coverage underneath the tile, eliminating air pockets that trigger cracking or the annoying hollow sound when walked upon.
  • Highly Flexible & Self-Curing: Modified with advanced polymers to accommodate subtle physical and thermal expansion movements. It does NOT require post-installation water curing or mechanical hacking of the walls.
  • Low VOC Formula: Eco-friendly composition that protects indoor air quality for healthy home living.

Primary Applications

  • Suitable Materials: Perfectly engineered for all types of ceramic tiles, semi-vitreous tiles, standard-sized vitrified tiles, porcelain tiles ($2\times2$, $4\times2$), glass mosaics, and regular-sized natural stones.
  • Compatible Substrates: Can be used over cement screeds, sand-cement plasters, rough concrete slabs, brick walls, AAC block work, and existing cured tiles.
  • Areas of Use: Internal floors and walls, living rooms, bedrooms, internal corridors, kitchen backsplashes, and domestic or commercial wet areas. (Note: For large format tiles or exterior layouts, mixing with Roff Bond Repair is recommended).

The Variants of Roff Non-Skid Adhesive (NSA)

To suit different tile materials, background shades, and aesthetic needs, the Roff Non-Skid Adhesive range is divided into two distinct variants based on its cement base:

1. Roff NSA Grey (T02)

  • The Core Standard: Formulated with premium grey cement.
  • Best For: General indoor tiling where discoloration is not a concern. It is the standard choice for ceramic tiles, darker vitrified tiles, porcelain, and regular natural stones (like granite) on both walls and floors.
  • Packaging: Available in convenient 5 kg, 20 kg, and 30 kg moisture-proof bags.

2. Roff NSA White (T09)

  • The Aesthetic Specialist: Formulated with high-grade white cement.
  • Best For: Specifically designed for light-colored marbles, translucent natural stones, and glass mosaic tiles. Using a regular grey adhesive can shadows or discolor translucent materials; Roff T09 White preserves the true, uniform color of your premium tiles and stones.
  • Packaging: Available in 20 kg and 50 kg heavy-duty bags.

How to Apply Roff NSA

  1. Surface Prep: Clean the base substrate to remove all dust, grease, laitance, and loose particles. If the wall or floor is dry or dusty, lightly dampen it with water before application.
  2. Mixing: Always add the powder to clean water. Use a slow-speed mechanical stirrer (50-100 RPM) to mix until a creamy, uniform, lump-free paste is achieved. Let the mix rest for 5 minutes, then remix briefly before application.
  3. Spreading: Comb the mixed adhesive onto the substrate surface using a notched trowel at a uniform thickness of 3–6 mm. Spread only what can be tiled within 10 to 15 minutes to avoid skinning.
  4. Fixing: Press the tile firmly into the adhesive bed, moving it slightly perpendicular to the trowel ridges. Gently tap with a rubber mallet to achieve 100% surface contact. Leave appropriate joint gaps using tile spacers.
